About 50 Western Australian children are taken to hospital with cot related injuries each year. Babies are particularly vulnerable to suffocating or choking, and toddlers are at risk of injury from falling while trying to climb out of the cot.

Consumer Protection is running a Second-hand cot safety campaign this month. As part of that campaign we have mailed education material to second-hand and community stores across WA. Community groups such as pre-natal classes, mothers/parenting associations, seniors and playgroups will also received hard copies of a poster in the mail.
