Big Data and Social Investment Events
The first week in April 2017 was a big week for everything to do with data and the community sector: big data; micro data; data matching; data linkage; using data to target services and to monitor, evaluate and change services; opportunities to collaborate in the use of data; and turning stories into data and data into stories.
WACOSS hosted a series of events with international, national, state and local presenters. Response from participants was overwhelmingly positive and we are very proud to be able to share the presentations here.
Community Sector Leaders Forum on Emerging Issues - 3 April 2017
This week began with our Community Sector Leaders Forum on Emerging Issues. This forum is the WA Council of Social Service’s premier annual strategic event. It provides analysis to inform the service and strategic planning needs of the executives and Boards of community service providers into the future. The presentations can be viewed below.

Following the Community Sector Leaders Forum on Emerging Issues, WACOSS hosted the Big data and Social Investment Forum on the 4 April. Drawing on the experience of Data Futures New Zealand and keynote speaker Dame Diane Robertson, the forum provided practical examples of data being used to drive better outcomes, and how data could be used to powerfully make the case for service integration and to measure the collective impact of integrated and collaborative approaches to entrenched disadvantage. Dame Diane Robertson was joined by a raft of other experts as outlined in the program here.
